11: why compete when you can create?

It’s hard out there

There is apparently so much competition out in ‘the big bad world’ and that thought alone can intimidate people into inactivity

When you have others to compare yourself to, most of us have one of two reactions. We either believe we are inferior or superior to them

Both are extreme thoughts and both are essentially wrong

We are inferior to no one

We are superior to no one

We are as unique as everyone else

So, this being the case, we need not compete against anyone

We need not compare ourselves to anyone

All we need to do is create

The more we create and produce, the more of a unique space we will carve out for ourselves

The more we focus on creating and releasing our creation, the more self sufficient we will become

The more self sufficient we are, the more empowered we’ll feel and ultimately the more unstoppable we’ll end up

So why waste your time competing with others when you can be creating for yourself?

Be well

49: Give it all away

Give away everything you know, and more will come back to you

Do you remember your time back in school? While working, some students would place their arms around their work so as to prevent other students from seeing their work and therefore stop them from copying

As you get older, it turns out it’s the same at work, people are secretive with their ideas “don’t tell them that, they’ll take the credit for it”

The problem with hoarding is you end up living off your reserves, eventually you’ll run out and become stale

If you give everything away on the other hand, you are left with nothing and therefore forced to replenish

Somehow the more you give away the more comes back to you

Ideas are open knowledge. Don’t claim ownership

They’re not your ideas anyway, they’re someone else’s. They are out there floating by on the ether

You just have to put yourself in a frame of mind to pick them up

There’s nothing new under the sun

All ideas are recycled and built on from previous ideas

That’s how it works

Be well

Leading F.A.B

Still working on upping my Elvis

What that means is, working on becoming as unique to my 9-5 organisation so I stand out like Elvis did (as told to me by the workshop facilitators and founders)

This week, it’s all about creativity and how managing one’s state helps unleash that creativity so you can have the most impact

I discovered how to pull apart a work brief and decipher what the client really wants by asking questions that fall into four quadrants Continue reading “Leading F.A.B”

Upping My Elvis

what the hell does that title mean?

I have no clue either but I am currently in Lyme Regis on a week long development course courtesy of the 9 – 5. Today was the first day, after a 3 hour train journey, our group of 10 arrived at just past midday

After some great lunch, it was time to do business

This week we will be exploring how we show up to work, the impact we have on others and how to maximise our creativity

They say teaching or at least relaying information is the best way to learn it

So here it goes Continue reading “Upping My Elvis”
