Day Twenty Eight
“I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven…”
I’m not in the habit of quoting Kanye West but I love those words. In my opinion, they also ring true.
We may not be trying to buy our way in to heaven but we definitely would rather find out if money really can’t buy happiness for ourselves.
I once heard a motivational speaker say “ money isn’t that important but it’s right up there with oxygen”.
The point being, money is one of those complicated things that isn’t all that important if you have the right amount.
Everybody knows there is such a thing as too little money, it’s called poverty. Even for those gainfully employed, we can easily find ourselves having too much month at the end of the money, waiting for the next pay check.
We all know that there is such a thing as having too little money but do we also realise that for some people there is such a thing as having too much money?
That’s right, not everyone can handle large sums of money without it ruining their lives in some way.
Don’t believe me? Look up stories about lottery winners and you’ll quickly pick up a pattern that 98% regret winning the money in the first place, a high percentage of them lose the money somehow anyways and the majority can no longer trust friends and family.
Money can improve life but can just as easily ruin it too.
I guess I’m realising that it’s not really about the money in of itself. It’s about our mindset and approach with money.
“La, la, la la, wait till I get my mindset right” would probably not have been as catchy or appealing, it would however have been more accurate and empowering.
Get your mindset right and everything else will follow, including the money and then truly “you can’t tell me nothing riighht”
