Try Something Different

I’m trying a new approach with my next film

I will have a detailed outline but I won’t have a full script with dialogue etc instead, I will workshop every scene with my cast and together we will come up with the words

Why this approach?

I’m seeing if it may suit me better than the conventional approach, the pace I like working at and the number of projects I’m interested in doing doesn’t suit the conventional approach of script writing or filmmaking

I need to try out new methods and see if they suit me better – no point knowing you’re a square peg and still trying to fit yourself into a circle

That would be futile

And yet, in my opinion, that’s how many of us live life, forcing ourselves to fit into things we internally know we are not suited for

Worse still are those of us that lack the awareness of where we fit in the first place and never bother to find out

Going with the flow is not always the best approach, especially if you don’t know where the current is taking you

Only fish in the sea that are carried by the flow of the current are dead ones, they have no choice, they are lifeless

You and I are not lifeless so why not swim against the current?

My next film is currently titled Insanity and will explore themes of mental wellness within the context of relationships

“Insanity is doing the same thing day after day and expecting a different result” – that’s how it’s come to be defined, that quote is attributed to Albert Einstein

Isn’t that how the majority of us lead our lives? Doing the same things over and over again and yet expecting different results?

Try something different – chances are that if you are not happy with the results you’ve been getting in any area of your life, it’s likely time to try a different approach and see what that does

You can always go back to the old way if you really hate the new way

Think about it

Be well
