A childhood friend of mine’s father passed away today
Death also shocks, it doesn’t matter how it comes, I don’t thing anyone can ever be truly ready for it
Many a times I remember when death has knocked on the door of those I hold near and dear. The excruciating pain that comes with saying goodbye to someone you perhaps will never be ready to say goodbye to
Steve Jobs once said that “death was the greatest invention of life” because it was a constant reminder that we don’t have all the time in the world, that our time here is very temporary and we too will one day be gone
when seeing life and time through that context, doesn’t it make you consider what you are spending your life doing? who you are spending it with and whether you are satisfied with it all
Death shocks us back consciousness
We can often sleep walk through life and for some of us, we may claim to be ‘woke’ but really we are sheepwalking (not a typo, intentional) our way through this one precious life, following a path for which we did not set for ourselves
Stop being a sheep always in need of a shepherd to guide you and lead you
How about you discover and build the inner fortitude to guide yourself, set your own path and make your own unique, indelible mark
When it’s all said and done, the only thing that will matter is the legacy we leave behind
We don’t have to die as the most famous, richest or most accomplished person who ever lived.
I just think we owe it to the people who will cry when we leave to make the smile while we’re still here. Spend time with those that mean the most to you and give them your best
You may not value your best but it’s all you have so don’t hold it back
Give it all away
what you give away will return back to you multifold as your legacy
Be well
Enjoy this fragile, precious life that you are lucky to have because once it’s gone….
