With little under an hour to go before the day ends, I finally find time to write
I’ve been trying my best to enjoy the weekend and not do too much other than rest and relax
Oddly enough I worked a lot this weekend even in the midst of seeking to rest
I once heard the notion of work and rest put this way:
If a person had to cut down a mighty oak tree within 8 hours, they should spend the first 6 hours sharpening their saw
In other words, get your tools and resources as sharp as possible so that you can do a quicker and more effective job
That’s what rest is all about
An opportunity to sharpen yourself so that when you return to your work, you will be more effective and efficient at whatever you’ve set your mind to do
In this ‘I’ll sleep when I die’ generation, where we ‘go hard – no days off’ I think it’s more important than ever to take time out to rest
I could go on about the difference between rest and pure laziness but that’s a post for another time entirely
For now, I wish you a great and productive week ahead
