Try not to react

When things go wrong or life blindsides you, don’t react, respond

Reacting is so instinctive that it requires very little thought and the problem with that is, sometimes, we can end up causing more damage to ourselves and people around us

Responding takes a little more time, because it involves contemplation prior to taking action but no matter how short that contemplation period is, often, it’s the difference maker

In my experience, there is always a better choice, another option, an alternative approach that we may not be able to see in the moment but believe me, it’s always there

Responding saves us from unnecessary arguments

Responding spirals upwards, leading us to better and better choices

Responding takes a lot more will power but reaps much better results

When given a choice between reacting and responding
